Yvonne "Granny" Washburn

Yvonne was born on September 15, 1938 in Marengo, IL, the daughter of Charles D. and Leota (Clankie) Higgins. She married Levon Washburn on October 26, 1968 and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2004. Granny was a member of Central Christian Church in Beloit, WI. She moved from Arkansas in June of 2005, where she had been a member and Sunday School Teacher at 1st Baptist Church in Mayflower, AR.

Yvonne is survived by her daughter Debra (Terry) Young and two step-daughters Diane and Kimberly; granddaughter Melissa (Jeremy) Olivotti; grandson Tracy (Stacy) Young; great-grandchildren Megan, Autumn, Zack and Makenzie; step-grandchildren Jennifer and Clay; step-great-grandchild Aleah; sisters Eleanor, Judy and Vernicia; brothers Charles and Dale; brother-in-law David (Letisha) Washburn; her special adopted grandchildren Morgan, Brandon and Rachel.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Joseph and Albert, eight sisters Leota, Juanita, Joann, Patsi, Charlene, Cheryl, Gail and Ruth. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Granny’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Visitation for Yvonne will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Friday September 22, 2017 at Central Christian Church 2460 Milwaukee Road in Beloit, WI with a service to celebrate Yvonne’s life to follow. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Advantage Funeral Home 7000 West State in Rockford is assisting the family with arrangements.
