Anita M. Buffett

Anita was born June 12, 1964, in Salem, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Alcide and Dianna (Allain) LeBlanc. She was a graduate of Salem High School. She went on to further her education by graduating from University of Maine, Augusta with her bachelor’s degree. Anita has resided in Mexico for over 30 years.

She worked for the Mexico School Department in the cafeteria at Mountain Valley Community Middle School for many years. Anita was also a caretaker for the elderly. Anita worked several other jobs over the years.

Anita loved spending time with her family, especially her loving grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cribbage, gardening, baking, and visiting the coast.

Anita had a heart of gold and will be fondly remembered as a person who loved to help others. She always supported her community by volunteering. Anita will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Anita is survived by her loving family, two sons Corey Buffett and Austin Horne and his wife Kori all of Mexico. Her sisters Claire Robinson of North Reading, MA and Lucille Small and her husband Daniel of Peru, her brother Paul LeBlanc and his wife Andrea of Exeter, NH, her two cherished grandchildren Carson and Evelyn Horne. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Michael, Eric and Stephanie Robinson her companion Jim MacDonald, Mark Small and his wife Heather, Rachelle Small and her companion Ian Canwell, Leo LeBlanc and his wife Hannah and Taylor Fowler and her husband Michael as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews Blake Small, Phoenix Hughes, Aleah Canwell, McKenna MacDonald, Scarlett and Ashton LeBlanc, and her long-time companion Richard Philbrick.

Anita’s visiting hours will be in the Thibault Remembrance Center, 250 Penobscot St. Rumford on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 4-6 pm. Her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Parish of the Holy Savior, 126 Maine Ave, Rumford on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers donations in Anita’s memory may be made to the Andwell Hospice House, 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, ME, 04210.
