Charles Merritt Wright

We are sad to announce that Chuck passed on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at CMMC due to heart failure. He was born on 11/9/1940 to Charles N. and Marguerite A. (Loop) Wright in Burlington, Vermont. He was Hun, Dad, Grampy, Grandpa and Uncle to his family and Chuck to his friends.

He just missed his 85th birthday and his 64th wedding anniversary to the love of his life, Alice M Burke. They married 11/17/1961, where they met in Massachusetts. They raised 3 children and had 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He so enjoyed time spent with them all.

Chuck graduated from Chelmsford High School. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Milkman. He was a milkman for most of his working years starting with HP Hood in Massachusetts, then to Connecticut and then moved to Dixfield, Maine in 1972 when he decided to join his Dad, Mother and Sister Cindie to run a family business – Wright’s Dairy. There was always a running joke that the kids were the Milkman’s.

There were many memories made at the family camp at Webb Lake in Weld – boating, skiing, company outings and many cookouts and parties. He then hosted at their home – poolside, when they sold the camp. He so enjoyed the summers when everyone hung out at the pool - 40 years of celebrations and parties, such a generous man. He especially loved celebrating the 4th of July with nephew Bobby and wife April. Oh, how they lit up the sky. You’re welcome Dixfield! Dad had a huge sense of humor and loved to get reactions from the sarcastic/funny t-shirts he would wear.

He also looked forward to Christmas Day when everyone piled into their house, and he used to love to go all out and decorating the outdoors. One year they received a 1st place award for their outdoor holiday decorating. Boy, the hours we spent decorating.

Dad has been a King Lion for the Dixfield Lions Club and a member of the Dixfield-Poodunck snowmobile club. He also joined the bowling leagues and was a Class-A Horseshoe player with many trophies and awards.

He is survived by his wife Alice; children Pam Puiia and companion Victor Austin of Dixfield, Gary Wright and his wife Debbie of Dixfield; grandchildren Lee Ann Leblanc and husband Dustin, Lisa and companion Jason Capponi, Selena Austin and companion Forest Berry, Rebecca and companion Tucker Barnett, and Dylan Wright, all of Dixfield and Brittany Wright and companion Joshua Hershkowitz of Lewiston; great-grandchildren Madelyn, Jocelyn, Collin, Rylee and Olivia.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Cynthia Coulombe and her husband Gerard and his very special daughter, Debbie.

We are respectfully honoring Dad’s wishes and there will be no services.
