PERU- Eldon G. “Donny” Dolloff age 55, passed away peacefully Tuesday night at his parent’s home; after battling a rare brain disease called Creutzfeldt-Jakob’s Disease (CJD). “Donny” was born the eighth of nine children to Richard and Patricia “Lacroix” Dolloff. He attended Peru and Rumford schools and made a name for himself as a Rumford Panther wrestler and football teammate; who achieved many titles wrestling. He had an overall record of 89 wins and 25 losses. After graduating, Donny started his eight year career as a Hull Technician in the U.S.N. He spent most his time overseas, repairing ships. He enjoyed his spare time with his cousin John, who was stationed with him. Donny married Veronica Cox, in March of 1989; and became a father to her young daughter, Yolanda. They welcomed a baby girl, Yvonne Nodia, in August of 1996. He created a home for his family in Kingsland, Georgia where they reside today. He worked as a Millwright Superintendent for W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, Inc. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Often taking trips with them along the East Coast. Donny was known to take action without notice, especially when it came to helping family, often extending a helping hand to those he loved. You could catch him riding his motorcycle, cruising in his boat down the river, or sitting in his favorite restaurant in his free time. Donny loved his children and grandchildren more than they will ever know and adored his family. He will be loved and missed, always. Eldon is survived by his wife Veronica, daughters; Yvonne Dolloff and Yolanda Curtis, grandchildren; Gavin, Trinity, Sophia, and Aslan all of Kingsland, GA., parents Richard and Patricia Dolloff of Peru, siblings; Margie Hanson, Alan Dolloff, Marylou Wing, Nancy Nemethy, Steve Dolloff, Linda Lilley, Brian Dolloff, and Jeff Dolloff Along and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thanks to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and his sister, Marylou, who cared for him his last few weeks of life. Donny’s wish, of spending his last days in his childhood home, were fulfilled by the dedication of his family and friends. Thank you to all who stopped in and called to show your support. #DolloffStrong

Donny was a friend of mine way back when (high school days) and although I lost contact with him long ago I still remember all the fun we had then; Donny, Bruce, Tim, Johnny, myself, and others. Donny was a gentle giant. I was shocked to learn he had passed at such a young age. My condolences to his family and all who mourn his loss.

I did not know Eldon but as I read his obituary in this morning
paper I was taken aback as his diagnosis of CJS This is what my dear sister died of back in 1994. She was 60 years old and was living in New Jersey when we found out. It is such a horrible disease that still to this day puzzles me. She passed after 2 years from this. She was the next to the oldest of 9 brothers and sisters and I read where Donny was the Eighth of Nine . Kind of a coincidence. My heart and prayers go out to all of his family and friends . May he rest in peace and may the family find strength in the days ahead.

Condolences to the Dolloff family.
My memory is the trip to Maine many years ago before Nodia was born with Don, my sister and Yolanda. It was a truly amazing experience . I am also tickled Don got to taste our homemade tamales. His favorite was pork and joked with my husband about sending tamales to him in Georgia. He sure had a love for good food, family and joking around with others with a kindness and gentleness of a giant teddy bear.
We sure are going to miss your presence on this earth Don, but feel assured your girls, wife, grandchildren and the entire Dolloff clan will keep your memory alive.
Love ...Connie, Juan, Holly, Dominic and family.

Bill and I send our condolences to the family of Eldon. We are so sorry for the loss of your loved one. We loved Eldon very much and he will be missed very much. We always looked forward to seeing him and his daughter at the Dolloff Reunion every August. They would always hang around with Dick, Pat, and other members of his family to just sit and visit after the Reunion was over. We had lots of good memories and laughs with the family. Prayers go out to everyone in the family. Love you all.

I’m sorry the Dolloff family has to deal with this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all . I have many memories of Donny when we were kids. Sliding down the hill in the dark, where Jeff’s place is now, playing in the old truck that was parked in Bobs yard. Playing football in Doug Merrill’s field amidst the cow patties. Simpler times back then. Rest In Peace
