He was born in Hanover, Maine on April 27, 1934, a son of J. Phillip and Ida M. (Desroche) Fortin.
Gerald was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Gould Academy.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958.
Gerald was employed for many years with Diamond Match Co. in Dixfield.
He formerly attended St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mexico.
Gerald enjoyed playing pool, visiting his friends at the Beacon House, and socializing with his brother Bob and sister in law Elyse at McDonalds.
Surviving are his children; Jeffrey Fortin and wife Connie of Lewiston, Joan Marino and husband Mark, of N.H., Paula Torla and husband David of N.H., Lynn Stevens of Dixfield, Jane Terenzoni of Winthrop, brothers; William “Bill” Fortin and wife Linda of CA., Robert “Bob” Fortin and wife Elyse of Hanover, Eddie Fortin and wife Debbie of MA., Joseph Fortin and wife Judy of N.H., Larry Fortin and wife Paula of Dixfield, seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Jeannette Giasson.
