

He was born in Cincinnati, OH on October 10, 1940 a son of the late Edwin “Ep” and Hazel (Klare) Maifeld. He grew up in Cincinnati attending local catholic schools and graduated from Elder High School. Follow graduation, Hank enlisted in the US Air Force, where he spent the next 23 years serving his country, earning the rank of MSGT.
After being honorably discharged, Henry moved to Maine and began working for the Rumford Post Office until his retirement.
Hank was an avid collector, he collected football cards and stamps among other things. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. A highlight was traveling with family to Hawaii. Henry was known for his HO scale Christmas village that was setup under his tree every year during the holiday.
He is survived by three children Douglas E. Maifeld of Rumford, Susan E. Gayhart and her husband Geoff of Harrisonburg, VA and Deborah A. House of Lewiston, ME. He also leaves five grandchildren Meagan Maifeld of Peru, ME, Rebecca Maifeld of Hyattsville, MD, Linsey House of Los Angeles, CA, Haley House of Lewiston and Matthew Gayhart of Culpeper, VA and a great granddaughter Harper Maifeld of Peru, as well as his four siblings Ronald Maifeld of Cincinnati, Evelyn Cook of Cincinnati, Lawrence Maifeld of Grand Prairie, TX and Kathy LaDow of Florence, KY and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 10 am – 12 pm at Thibault Remembrance Center, 250 Penobscot St, Rumford, followed by a Memorial Service at 12 pm at the funeral home.
