Born February 11, 1933, in Rumford, Janice was the daughter of Kitan Giambattista and Eva (Tot) Jackson. Janice attended local schools and graduated from Rumford High School, carrying forward a steady, thoughtful approach to life that would remain evident in the way she cared for others and took pride in the things entrusted to her.
For many years, Janice worked as a baker at the Rumford Senior Citizens Group. In that role, her devotion was felt in the simple, meaningful ways she served her community—reliably, generously, and with an honest spirit that needed no fanfare.
Janice was a devoted wife to her husband, Edgar Gallant. They were inseparable for 50 years and shared a happy marriage until his passing, a bond marked by constancy, mutual care, and deep companionship.
Janice also found joy at home, where her green thumb shone through in the beautiful perennial gardens she lovingly tended around her house—quiet evidence of her patience, attentiveness, and pride.
In addition, Janice was a past member of the Sons of Italy, a connection that reflected her appreciation for community and fellowship.
Janice is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Edgar and her two daughters; Cheryl Dudley and Brenda Ferguson.
She is survived by her two sons-in-law; Greg Dudley and Doug Ferguson, her five grandchildren; Jessica, Jennifer, Molly, Lucas and Sadie, as well as five great grandchildren, her aunt Stella Glazier and several cousins.
The family extends a special thank you to the team at Pinnacle Nursing Home for the care they gave to Janice in her final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service for Janice on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 12PM at St. John's Cemetery, 35 Isthmus Road, Rumford, ME 04276.
