Joyce F Roy Born July 26, 1931 Died April 3, 2021 With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving Mom. Life will never be the same for her seven children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and her large circle of family and friends. Mom fought a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. In her final months, she was bed ridden. If not for the disease, Mom would be planting peas on Patriot’s Day. Mom was granted her biggest wish which was to stay in her home. It would not have been possible without her caregiver’s. They were amazing. They thought of Mom as a grandmother figure and a friend. Thank you, we will forever be grateful. Trying to tell her life story in a few paragraphs is difficult. All of us have a favorite memory. Here are a few; washing clothes on a scrub board at Concord Pond back in the day, picking blueberries on top of Speckled Mountain and hosting slidding parties with us kids and the grandchildren. The one memory we all cherish is of mom working barefoot in her gardens. Mom never had a driver’s license and she really didn’t need one. Her entire life revolved around her children and their families, her gardens and the farm that she spent nearly 60 years in. In addition to raising her seven children, she also was a Foster Mother for many years. Mom was born in Rumford. Her parents were Gerald And Ruth Thurston. She lost her husband nearly 7 years ago. We are hoping that you are both hiking to the Ledges together. Her children are listed in order of birth. Lynda Derouche and husband John, of Weld. Cindi Proctor and husband Dalton, of Weld. Bill Freeman and wife MaryEllen, or Peru. Greg Freeman and wife Cindy, of Peru. Andy Freeman and wife Brenda, of Peru, Valerie Bonnell and husband Dick of Rumford and Ernie Roy and Fiancee Kelly of Peru. There are many loving Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews. Wish we had room to list them all. A graveside service and get together will be announced at a later date. Walk free Mom
