Joyce Walsh

Born in Rumford Maine to Leo and Merlene Gallant in 1953, Joyce was a musician at heart. She enchanted people with her beautiful voice and bright smile. In the late 1960’s, she performed with her older brother David Gallant in a popular local band, Velvet Seed. Later she had success as a solo artist, performing under the pseudonym Tiffany Witherspoon. She made many cherished memories and timeless music that people continue to enjoy. She was honored as the Rumford-Mexico winter Carnival Queen in 1973.

In 1979, Joyce married the love of her life, Patrick Walsh. Together they had one son, Evan Walsh. From the day he was born, she devoted her life to being the best mother she could. She was a loving and fearlessly loyal mother and wife. Joyce and Pat shared over 45 years of marriage together, and were an inspiring example of love and commitment for their son Evan, family, and friends.

The love Joyce had for her family could only matched by her love for animals. She was part of the Ellis River Riders Equestrian Club for many years. She is fondly remembered riding her beloved horse Billie Jean, or cuddling with Buddy the family dog.

Joyce could make even the most stoic person laugh until it hurt, or blush from one of her quick quips. She made those in her presence feel instantly welcomed, warm, and happy. She was a bright light who will be happily remembered and sorely missed by her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband Patrick Walsh, son Evan Walsh, brother David Gallant, sister-in-law Elizabeth Donahue, nephew Nicholas Gallant, and his family Keisha and Dylan, brothers-in-law Shawn and Peter Walsh, sisters-in-law Lisa Chartier and Mary Walsh, daughter-in-law Lindsey Mumm, and a number of lifelong friends from the Rumford and Roxbury area.
