Leo Joseph Provencher, a beloved resident of Rumford, ME, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 83. Known for his honest, humorous, and kind-hearted nature, Leo left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Leo was born on January 14, 1942, and grew up in Rumford, where he attended local area schools and graduated from Rumford High School. During his high school years, he was a track star and also played football, showcasing his athletic talents.
After completing his education, Leo embarked on a career that would see him retire from the Rumford Paper Mill in 1997. He also worked for Thibault Funeral Home, contributing his skills and dedication to his community.
In his personal life, Leo had a passion for golf and enjoyed collecting baseball cards and stamps. He was an avid fan of local team sports, with a special fondness for The Boston Red Sox.
Leo is survived by his sons, Stephen J. Provencher (Pam) and Scott D. Provencher. He will also be dearly missed by his granddaughters, Jillian Provencher (Grady Harrington), Samantha Provencher (Michael Oliveira), Megan Duquette (Denis), and Hannah Provencher (Austyn). His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Evelyn Mae, Ava, Marcel, Parker, and Sullivan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at the Parish of the Holy Savior, located at 126 Maine Ave, Rumford, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11 am. Committal prayers will follow at St. John Cemetery on Isthmus Rd., Rumford.
