Lorraine Mary Briere

She was born in Rumford, Maine on July 11, 1928, a daughter of Calix J. and Marie Anne (Caillouette) Roy.

Lorraine attended Rumford schools and was a lifelong resident of Rumford. She married Joseph R.A. “Gabby” Briere on August 23, 1948. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage; he passed away in 2002.

Lorraine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She cherished the deep bond she had with her siblings Rita, Doris and Roger.

She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior and was a 48 year member of the Daughters of Isabella along with her sister Rita.

Lorraine loved bowling, playing cards, going to flea markets and antiquing. Most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children; Rita A. Gallant and husband Raymond of Peabody, MA, Stephen J. Briere and wife Mary of Bennington, VT, Michael N. Briere and wife Belinda of Rumford and Roy A. Briere and wife Judith of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Rita Perry and husband Robert of Randolph, VT; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph, a daughter Linda Ann, a sister Doris Eastman and a brother Roger Roy.

The family would like to thank the staff at D’Youville Pavillion and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the compassionate care given to Lorraine.
