

Nancy A. Norris, 79, died Monday, August 18, 2025 at Glenridge Rehabilitation & Long Term Care in Augusta, Maine. She most recently had resided in Augusta but prior to that was a lifelong resident of the Rumford / Mexico area. Nancy was born in Rumford, Maine on June 6, 1946 to the late George Viger and Aldine (Richard) Viger and was the 7th of 9 children. She was a member of the graduating class of 1964 at Mexico High School and worked for over 25 years at her sister's daycare where she was affectionately known as "Aunt Nancy" to many generations of children. In the spring of 1993, she began a new journey of in-home child care. The children she took care of during this time called her by her families treasured name of "Nanny” and became like unofficial grandchildren to her and her husband Tommy. Nancy loved to ski at Mt. Abram with her husband, children and later in life her grandchildren. She and Tommy spent a month each year enjoying time down in Florida with their children and later in life as "empty nesters" together.
She was married in Mexico, Maine on May 20, 1967 to the love of her life, Tommy Norris who passed away in 2010. Survivors include her two daughters; Toni Richardson and her husband Stephen of Augusta, Tonia DeSalle and her fiance Butch Akers of the River Valley area, three grandchildren; Caleb Scott Richardson of Fairbanks, Alaska, Hannah Elizabeth Richardson of Augusta and Dominick Thomas DeSalle of the River Valley area. Siblings; sister Gloria Barnett and her partner Lindon Christi, sister Penny Gotto, sister Geri Viger and partner Mark Rowley. Numerous nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed in her own special way. She was predeceased by her late husband Thomas Norris, siblings; George Viger, Andrew "Norman" Viger, Wilfred "Billy" Viger, Bernard "Smokey" Viger, sister Marie Kelley and their spouses.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service in St. John's Cemetery Isthmus Rd. in Rumford on Monday August 25 at 11 AM. Following the service at the cemetery, the family would like to invite everyone to 49 Franklin to celebrate Nancy's life. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association 383 U.S. Route 1 #2C Scarborough, ME. 04074.
