Born on June 28, 1934, in Rumford, Maine, to Julia (Beeaker) and Charles Kaul, Pat was a lifelong resident of Rumford. She graduated from Stephen's High School and Westbrook College as a medical technologist and later worked in the school system.
On June 27, 1959, she married her beloved husband, Warren "Hoppy" Hopkins. Together they shared an all too brief life together dedicated to the Catholic Church, their children, and each other until Hoppy passed away unexpectedly in 1978.
Pat was a devoted member of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church and a 65-year member of St. Timothy Circle Daughters of Isabella, where she held many offices. She sang joyfully in the St. Athanasius and St. John Choir under Mark Belanger's direction. Pat was actively involved in numerous community organizations including the Lithuanian Heritage Club, Rumford Historical Society, Friends of the Library, and Searchlight Club. Pat especially enjoyed the friendship and laughter with her beloved Ladies of the Lake and Mountain Area Quilting posse. She also volunteered as a patient visitor and in the Medical Records Department at Rumford Hospital. Pat’s passion for travel led her around the globe with her sister-in-law, Beverly. She also loved reading historical, travel and inspirational books, and she cherished exploring her family's genealogy and Lithuanian heritage.
She is survived by her six children, who were the light of her life: Margaret (Doug) Raymond of Montville, Maine; David (Susanne) Hopkins of Monroe, Washington; Mary (Rick) Moore of Trophy Club, Texas; Daniel Hopkins of Lebanon, New Hampshire; Martha (Kurt) Brown of Seattle, Washington; and Paul Hopkins of Bellevue, Washington. Her grandchildren: Zach (Angela) Gallant and Josh Gallant as well as their Father, Ken Gallant, Katelyn Moore, Madison Moore, Emma Hopkins, and Phoebe (Clayton) Oetting brought her immense joy. Her great-grandchildren: Adelynn and Lucas Gallant, and Walter Oetting added to her happiness. Her sister: Barbara (Richard) Buxton of Orwell, Vermont, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends will fondly remember her.
Pat was predeceased by her brother, Jerome Kaul.
Pat was a pillar of the community whose warmth, kindness, and dedication to her faith, family, and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
