Canton, ME – Pauline E. (Michaud) MacKinnon, 88, of Peru passed away after a long illness on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Pinnacle Health & Rehab Center, with her loving husband by her side. She was the wife of John E. MacKinnon.
She was born in Mexico, ME on April 22, 1935 a daughter of the late Joseph P. & Lillian I. (Landry) Michaud and the step daughter of the late Lucille (Bouchard) Michaud. She grew up in Mexico, attending local area schools and graduated from Mexico High School. After high school Pauline attended Auburn Maine School of Commerce. She then spent fifteen years at Pollard Theater and Trailer Sales in Rumford. Pauline and John were married in St. Theresa Church in Mexico, May 27, 1967 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2017.
She was interested in politics and volunteered for the Democratic Party and was on the school committee in Peru for several years.
Besides her husband John, she is survived by two children, Katherine Sargent and her husband Eric of Wells, ME and Brian MacKinnon of Saco, ME. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren Gage and Michael as well as her brother Paul Michaud and his wife Clarita of Dixfield, ME, her sister-in-law Beverly Desroches of Dixfield and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Eugene Michaud, Maurice Michaud and Andrew Michaud.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Pinnacle Health & Rehab for their years of devoted care. They would also like to thank there caring neighbors Neil & Susan Sorenson and Jackie Pelletier for all their help over the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11 am at Parish of the Holy Savior, 126 Maine Ave, Rumford. Burial in St. John Cemetery will be held at a later date.
