He was born at home in Hartford, Maine to Eldon Guy Dolloff, Sr. and Ada May Gammon Dolloff on September 16, 1933. He was raised in Peru by his mother and father until his father passed in 1941.
In 1945, his mother married Archie Vaughn, who helped raise Dick into the respectable, hard-working man he was. He attended Peru School and Dixfield High School. Dick began driving log truck at the age of 15 and at the age of 17, he met his bride to be, Patty Lacroix, and married on December 1, 1951. They would have celebrated 74 years of marriage on December 1, 2025.
Through the years Dick worked tirelessly driving truck for various contractors and traveled the woods roads of Maine to support his family until he retired after the great ice storm of 1998.
Dick was a true family man sharing his love of his work and being in the outdoors. He would regularly be seen with his kids in the log truck, and in later years, his grandkids, showing them the ways of the woods. He always took advantage of camping, rain or shine, as well as berry picking and watching his cousin race at Oxford Plains.
In his last years, not able to enjoy outdoor adventure, he took a great interest in watching tennis and golf, while Pat enjoyed her library of stories. Dick looked forward to regular visits from his family and friends and always enjoyed watching eyes light up when slipping the grandchildren and great-grandchildren a large bill or two.
Dick’s legacy lives on through his wife, Patty (Lacroix) Dolloff, his Sister-in-law, Maureen (Lacroix) Dassau and her husband Dan and his sister Rita Vaughn Nussbaumer and her husband John. He also leaves his children, Margorie and William Hanson, Marylou Wing, Nancy and Ed Nemethy, Linda Lilley and Doug Judd, Steven Dolloff, Brian Dolloff, Sr. and Cindy Bachelder, Jeffrey Dolloff and Debra Perry, as well as 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
Dick was predeceased by his father, Eldon Guy Dolloff, Sr. in 1941 and mother, Ada Vaughn in 2009. Siblings: Eldon Guy Dolloff, Jr. and Robert C. Dolloff and sister-in-law Shirley (Wyman) Dolloff, his sons: Alan Dolloff, Sr. and Eldon Dolloff, his grandchildren, Dennis Hanson and Christine Wing, his great granddaughters, Rebecca Cushman, Serenity Dolloff and Isabell J.
