

surrounded by family on Monday, December 16, 2024 after being diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brian Tumor in November 2023.
Bob was born on January 24, 1941 in Gilead, ME, the son of the late Roy C. & Geraldine M. (Valantine/Dorey) Goodwin. Bob grew up in Bethel, ME and attended Gould Academy. In 1957, his Junior Year, at the age of seventeen Bob joined the US Army achieving the rank of Sgt (t) E-5 and served his country for three years and had an honorable discharge.
For 32 years Bob worked for the Boise Cascade Paper Mill (FKA Oxford Paper Mill) and retired at the age of 55. From there he and his wife bought their first of many motor homes and enjoyed many trips throughout the United States as well as spending the past 15 winters in warm and sunny Florida. Bob also enjoyed attending Blue Grass festivals throughout New England and whenever he could join in on the fun playing one of his many collectable Martin guitars.
In 1963 Bob married his loving wife, Shirley (Bedard) Dorey and they decided to settle down in East Andover, Maine where they raised their two children; Michael R. Dorey and Donna (Dorey) Howard. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love and support. Bob always took pride in what he had and made sure he took care of it. From his loving family to his 2002 Saturn that he had for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Bedard) Dorey, his two children Michael R. Dorey and his wife Lori of Buxton, ME and Donna L. (Dorey) Howard and her husband Patrick of Gilead, ME. He also leaves behind three grandchildren Brandon M. Dorey and his fiancée Autumn of Shapleigh ME, Corey P. Howard and his fiancée Julia of Poland, ME and Becca (Howard) Vaclavicek and her husband Jonah of Grandby, MA and five great grandchildren Liam, Hudson, Davis, Easton and Cash. He is also survived by his brother Maurice Dorey and his wife Gloria of Rumford Point, ME and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Lindsay Dorey, Arnold Dorey, Arlene Dorey and Ernestine (Dorey) Okon.
