Roland L. "Doc" Carignan

Roland was born in Rumford on February 18, 1924 the 4th son of Willie and Anna (Cote) Carignan. He attended Stephens High School and graduated from the National College of Chiropractors, Chicago, Illinois in 1949, then he began his Chiropractic Practice in Rumford. He received the Pioneer Award from the Maine Chiropractic Association in 1993.

Roland served in the Co. B 103rd Infantry in Guadalcanal, Russell Islands, New Georgia, New Guinea, Morotai, New Caladonia and the Phillipines.

He was employed for 35 years as a 1st Class Millwright with Boise Cascade, and served as Recording Secretary for the union for 30 years.

Roland was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, having served two terms on the parish council, serving as lector, and sang in the choir for 15 years.

He was a Vice Chair of the Building Committee at Rumford High School,

Roland was a member of the VFW, American Legion, the Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club and the Boise 25 year club.

He really enjoyed the many Waldo Street Reunions held at LeCours camp on the Ellis River.

He is survived by his beloved wife Rachel of Dixfield; children, Cynthia & Dennis Flaherty of Saco, Gloria Carignan & Frank DiConzo of Rumford, Pamela & Kerry Gill of Scarborough, Deborah & Geary LaPerle of Auburn, Dr. Peter Carignan of Scarborough, Paul & Karen Carignan of Saco, Jay & Melody Windover of Dixfield, Donald Windover of Washington DC, and Lolisa Windover of Peru; grandchildren, Evan & Katie, Kate & Bob, Nicholas & Andy, Nathan & Teresa, Sarah & Bill, Adam, Shelby, Haley, Alyssa, Andrew, Abbey, Sophie, Abbey, Kate and Jackiellen; and great grandchildren, Emma, Delaney, Eddie and Alex as well as his Special Nephew William (Bizz) Carignan.

Roland was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Anna of Rumford, his wife Lorraine of Rumford, brothers, Leo (Kiyo), William (Chic), Brother Armand of Clerq St. Viator, Joliette Quebec, and Father Raymond (Moots) Carignan of the Josephites.
