Rosemarie’s life was marked by steady devotion and a generous, compassionate spirit—one that showed itself most clearly in the way she cared for others, worked diligently, and gave of herself without hesitation. She was a well-known staple in the community, remembered with respect for her skill and reliability as a waitress, and for the quiet kindness she extended to those around her.
On August 11, 1984, Rosemarie married the love of her life, Haydn Jones. They shared a happy and devoted marriage until Haydn’s passing in 2014. Together they loved traveling to the islands and spent cherished time in many places, with condos in several locations that became part of the rhythm of their life together.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Rosemarie expressed her love in countless practical and heartfelt ways—among them, crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren, each one a patient work of care and thoughtfulness. The love Rosemarie had for her family and children went above and beyond, leaving a legacy of selflessness and enduring warmth that will be remembered for years to come.
Rosemarie was predeceased by her parents, Rosanna Hartford and Warren Elliot Sr.; her beloved husband, Haydn; her brother, Darrell; and her sister, Val.
Rosemarie is survived by her children Rosalie and husband Dan, Larry Smart Jr., Jeff Smart and wife Nicole. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren (with two more on the way) her siblings Naomi, Tammy, Dolores, Dorothy, Roger, Warren Jr., Roy, Roberta, Robert, John and Laura as well as many nieces and nephews.
In Rosemarie’s words: “I love you to the pop moon and back.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Rosemarie on Saturday, September 12 at 12PM at the American Legion in Rumford.
