He was born on January 17, 1931 the son of Ellsworth and Sadie (Cole) Pingree.
Stanwood was educated in Milton schools.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
Stanwood worked at the Oxford Paper Company on the number 10 paper machine as well as the log room until his retirement in 1979.
Stanwood was a go getter and was never known to sit still. He had a love for singing and playing guitar, as well as a craftsman with wood, gardening, hunting, and fishing.
He could always be found in the barn, garden, or hayfields, or tinkering on something broken and at times creating a machine all his own.
When He was giving his hard working hands a rest you could find him with a coffee in hand and a story to be told, or sitting in front of the television with the volume so high one would feel they were in a real live shoot out.
Stanwood was an amazing storyteller who could capture the attention of any audience. A cowboy in heart, body, mind and soul, he had a love for horses and farming, which he dedicated most of his life to. He was easily loved by all who met him and touched the lives of all who knew him. His family meant everything to him.
