Christopher McGarry Browne, age 58 of Sacramento, CA, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026 after a long illness. Christopher was born in Los Angeles and raised in Sacramento, California. He attended The Thomas Parker School, Sacramento Country Day School, and graduated high school from Robert Louis Stevenson. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The American University in Washington, D.C. and his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from The Professional School of Psychology. Throughout his life he worked as an entrepreneur; purchasing and restructuring the Professional School of Psychology, starting a landscape company, a transportation company, and even a food truck service. He invested in numerous other start-ups and believed in not only helping others, but rolling up his sleeves and digging in. He was known for his generosity, friendship, wonderful sense of humor, and his love for his children and dogs.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, John Douglas Browne and Melinda Browne Wulff. He leaves behind his children, Eleanore Browne of Bradenton, Florida, and Weston Browne of Sacramento, California, as well as his former spouse and good friend, Emily Browne Wheeler (Brian). He is also survived by his siblings, Victoria Rogers (David) of Los Angeles, California, Heather Ryan (Matthew) of Leawood, Kansas, Walden Browne (Sally) of Orinda, California, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
To honor our father’s extraordinary legacy of music, his love for animals, gardens and family, in lieu of sending flowers, share a favorite song with a friend, feed a hungry animal or take a moment to stop and admire a beautiful flower. It’s these simple gestures that bring joy to others while extending kindness, generosity and grace beyond measure.
Should you choose, donations would be welcome at the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Sacramento, California.
A private Celebration of Life will be held by his children and a graveside service will be held at the Gray Family Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois.
