

Harry J. Hasenpflug, Jr. of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, February 17, 2015. He was born to the late Harry and Agnes (nee Tracka) Hasenpflug on March 31st, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife Jane (Hunt) Hasenpflug with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by their sons Jerome and Jim and his wife Molly (La Rose) Hasenpflug, and daughter-in-law Debra Ullmann, wife of deceased son John, grandson Christopher and wife Tara, granddaughter Amanda and her husband Brian Garraty, grandsons Michael, Matthew, and Mitchell, and great-granddaughter Ella Jane. Harry graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1949. He earned his B.S.(1953) and M.S. (1955) degrees in Geophysical Engineering from St. Louis University. He served as the president of the SLU Student Council in his senior year. He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists since 1952. Harry enjoyed a distinguished career of 35 years with Shell Oil Company, spanning exploration geophysics and geology research. He was a pioneer in the computerization of geophysical and geological analysis for oil and gas exploration. Harry retired in 1989. He was an active and devout Catholic throughout his life, and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion in the Archdiocese of Houston.
Visitation will be held on Friday February 20, 2015 from 4-8 pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, St. Louis, MO 63109. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday February 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 5020 Rhodes Ave., Saint Louis, MO 63109. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery..
