Omar Abraham Abdallah, age 85, died Monday, July 2, 2018, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Jerusalem to Ibrahim and Aisha Abdallah and was the middle child of six children. Omar immigrated to Chicago in 1950, and he married Muyassar (Mae) Totah in 1951. Mae predeceased Omar in 2009. Together, Omar and Mae had six children. He served in the Korean War in the 101st Airborne and became a successful businessman, selling insurance for 14 years with Banker’s Life & Casualty. He then became an international businessman with a prosperous import/export business. Omar went on to own the Majik Market on Geyer and Essex Roads in Kirkwood, MO for almost 30 years. Omar truly lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren in St. Louis.
He is survived by his children, Sue Taplin, Nancy Abdallah, Sandy Moriarty (Patrick Chavez), Hani
Bolin, Dena (Greg) Hemminghaus, and Sam (Lara) Abdallah; and six grandchildren, Samy Selim, Melanie Moriarty, Daniel Moriarty, Jr., Riley Hemminghaus, Connor Hemminghaus and Lila Abdallah. Omar is also survived by his two sisters.
SERVICES: Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 10 am to 2 pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa, St. Louis. A Graveside service will follow at 2:15 pm at Our Redeemer Cemetery, 8300 MacKenzie, St. Louis with full military honors. The family would like to extend our gratitude to Moza Hoxha and Monda Mehmeti for their attentiveness and loving care to Omar over the last seven months.
