Terry L. Gummels, 70, died May 30, 2018, at his home in St. Louis, Missouri. Devoted and loving husband to his wife Mary (nee Holleran), and loving father to his children Catie VonderHaar, the late Colleen Walters, and Monte Gummels. Proud gramps to Austin and Bradley VonderHaar and Ava and Colin Walters.

Terry was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Monte and Virginia Gummels, and dear brother to Joan Gummels, and the late Jim, Bill, and Dan Gummels. Loving son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and cousin.

Terry graduated from St. Mary’s High School, and served in the United States Air Force. Terry was blessed with many great friends from Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked for 37 years.

His passions in life were his family, sports including years as a coach and referee, and many good times with his large circle of friends. A special thanks to the nurses at St. Louis University Hospital who showed care and respect, his family, Diane Scott, and the many who said prayers and supported his loved ones during his illness.

Funeral Mass will be held at St Anthony of Padua Church on Tuesday June 5, 2018 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa, St. Louis, MO 63109, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday June 4, 2018. Condolences may be offered at www.hoffmeistercolonial.com

I have known Terry for over 50 years starting back as freshman at St. Mary's High School. Over the years we would see each other at different times and catch up. He was a great person, full of life and he will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers to the entire family at this difficult time.
