Tom was the dear husband of Karen K. (Hauck) Harris, dear dad of Jay (Mindy) Harris and Brett (Jenn) Harris; dear grandpa of Blake, Adalyn, Ben, and Jake.
Tom was born in St. Louis to Tom and Earlene Harris. He attended Roosevelt High School and was the President of the Student Council. Tom was the lead diver on the Roosevelt State Championship Swim Team. Following high school, Tom earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at St. Louis University.
Tom served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force for 4 years. He was stationed at the Strategic Air Command Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska and served overseas in Thailand during the Vietnam War.
Upon his return from service, Tom and Karen were married in St. Louis at St. Paul UCC on Giles Avenue. Tom and Karen would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year on October 14th. Tom will be buried with the original shoes he wore on their wedding day.
Tom proudly worked his entire career at Anheuser-Busch Brewery, and retired on St. Patrick’s Day 2005. In his younger years, Tom loved to dance and socialize at the once common Anheuser-Busch employee parties. Tom continued to meet regularly with his former coworker buddies from the brewery until he passed.
Tom and Karen loved to travel and took their sons on many memorable two week family vacations. Tom was an avid St. Louis sports fan and held season tickets for both the football Cardinals and the Rams. During his later years, he loved to read and share books while adding to his extensive coin collection.
Tom cared selflessly for his family. His kind heart, soft-spoken advice, and contribution to our world will be dearly missed.
