Alonzo “Lonny” James Conley Jr., 90, of Fruitland, Maryland, entered his heavenly home on Monday, June 16, 2025. He was born on November 28, 1934, in Oxford, Maryland, to the late Ethel Zimmerman Conley and Alonzo James Conley Sr.
Lonny is survived by his nephew, Dean Gladden and his wife Melanie; and his nieces, Denise Donalds and Sandy Gladden. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graduate of Wicomico High School, Class of 1953, Lonny went on to serve in the Army National Guard. After his service, he worked at Dulany Foods in Fruitland, MD. With the support of his father, he later founded A.C. Safe and Lock. He eventually joined Gladden Construction, working alongside his brother-in-law Elbert Gladden and his nephew Dean.
Lonny was an active and dedicated member of his community. He participated in several local organizations, including the Red Men, Elks, Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion. He had a deep love for animals and a lifelong appreciation for bluegrass music.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Peregrine Senior Living for the compassionate care and kindness they showed Lonny during his final years.
Family services will be private.
