Bessie “Marie” Massey

Bessie “Marie” Massey, 75, of Willards passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake surrounded by her family. Born in New Hill, VA she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Dickerson. Marie was a hairdresser for many years at Wicomico Nursing Home, Berlin Nursing Home, and Hartley Hall. Along with her husband Lou, they owned Lou’s Unisex and Washette for 44 years. She was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 654 in Salisbury.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Louis “Lou” James Massey, Jr.; son, Benjamin “Ben” Roberts and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Brendan, Jeremy, Brady, and Bailey Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Jr., Benny, Dell, Jerry, and Dean Dickerson and sisters, Wanda Dickerson and Patricia Wyatt.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11am at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marie to Loyal Order of the Moose, 833 Snow Hill Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804.
