Betty White McGee, 96, of Pittsville passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Delmar Estates Assisted Living in Delmar. Born December 31, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Carlis C. White and Clara Axie Hudson White.
Betty worked at Watson Shirt Factory, then worked as a poultry vaccinator, worked in the Pittsville School Cafeteria, was a contract broiler grower with Perdue Farms, and finally as a homemaker where she was able to spend time with her family. She was a member of Ayres UMC, the United Methodist Women, and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Webb and her husband, Bill; son, George C. “GC” White and his wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Matthew White and his wife, Missy, William Webb, Leslie Swift and her husband, Mark, and Ann Webb; great-grandchildren, Lilly Webb, Paul White, Nolan Swift, and Tilly White; and several nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years, George M. White; second husband, of 4 years, Frederick R. McGee; and two sisters, Hilda Taylor and Evelyn Farlow.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11am at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ray Rogers will officiate. Interment will follow in Pittsville Cemetery.
