Carolyn Rose Kingsley, 100, of Salisbury, Maryland, formerly of Glen Afton in Trenton, New Jersey passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 following a brief illness. She was born on October 02, 1921 in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Edmund C. Heyne and Marion E. (Courter) Heyne.
Carolyn volunteered for the United States Navy Waves during World War II and served in the states of Idaho and Washington. While serving at the Farragut Naval Station in Idaho, she met her husband-to-be, who was also serving in the Navy. She was honorably discharged following the end of the war.
Carolyn spent her post-service career as a clerical supervisor at the Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville, PA.
She is predeceased by her husband of forty-four years, Raymond L. Kingsley, her brother, Edmund C. Heyne, Jr. and nieces Joyce Heyne and Nancy Cardillo.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Raymond G. Kingsley and partner Robin C. Mitchell of Seaford, DE; her sister, Barbara Spiess of Athens, PA; granddaughter Tracey L. Kingsley, of Egg Harbor City, NJ; grandson and wife Steven and Elizabeth Kingsley of Chesapeake, VA; and great-grandchildren Ryan Boyle of San Francisco, CA, Tyler Kingsley of Egg Harbor City, NJ, Jessica, Gavin, and Chase Kingsley of Chesapeake, VA; nieces Connie Sherwood of Philadelphia and Sandy Spiess of Athens, PA and nephew Edmund Spiess of Bath, NY.
Carolyn wanted neither a funeral nor a celebration of life; her wish was simply to be cremated and have her ashes spread “to the winds somewhere in Nature,” along with those of her late husband of forty-four years.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care given Carolyn over the years by all of the wonderful caregivers at Peregrine Senior Living, formerly Atria Senior Living, in Salisbury, MD.
