Carolyn Louise Culver Lewis of Salisbury, Maryland passed away October 5, 2025, leaving behind her beloved husband William Thomas “Tommy” Lewis. Born April 17, 1944, in Salisbury, Maryland Carolyn was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Edna B. Culver and the granddaughter of the late Levin Gordy and Maude Abbott Culver and the late Howard and Alice R. Bounds.
She graduated from the Peninsula General Hospital (PGH) Nursing Program in 1966. She spent most of her professional life as a registered nurse at Deer’s Head State Hospital, retiring after 30 years in 1999. Soon thereafter, she began her mission as the Parish Nurse at Trinity United Methodist Church where she has been a member since birth. She served as the Trinity Parish Nurse until Spring 2024 during which time she organized health drives, provided Health Education through the Nurse’s Corner in the monthly church newsletter, supported the Visitation Ministry and provided a Card Care Ministry, received by many. She deeply loved her family and friends, demonstrating her care and compassion through the numerous meals she cooked and shared with others.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by her children, Thomas Alan Lewis and wife Claudia of Hebron, Christine Marie Quigley and husband Paul of Jefferson, MD and Beverly Renee Tull and husband John of Salisbury, as well as her bonus son and daughter Pat and Chris Shaner of Salisbury; her grandchildren, Justin Tull, Jessica Wells, Natalie Tull, Kaitlyn Quigley, William “Will” Quigley, Hunter Shaner, Christa Canto, Tom Canto, Murilo Ferreira, Filipe Ferreira and Bethany Ferreira; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard T. Culver and wife Ginger and Bruce G. Culver and wife Barbara “Barbie” and sister-in-law Pat Truitt and husband Jim as well as loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A musical tribute style funeral service will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11am at Trinity United Methodist Church, on N. Division and High St, Salisbury, MD. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 5pm-7pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
