With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, Courtney Renee Trout, 35, of Salisbury, MD, on February 21, 2025, due to complications from MRSA. Born April 5, 1989, in Killeen, TX, Courtney was a bright, curious, and spirited child with a love for creativity. She moved with her family to Chattanooga, TN, during grade school, later graduating from Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts. She pursued further studies at Stratford University in Baltimore, MD.
Courtney’s greatest joy in life were her boys—twins Levi and Joshua (8) and Liam (7). Her happiest moments were spent with them, cherishing their laughter, love, and adventures together. Her boys are lovingly cared for by their father, Phillip Trout, and stepmother, Ashley Blair, alongside their half-brother Leland Trout and stepbrother, Kadien Swaggerty.
A gifted artist and writer, Courtney had an extraordinary creative spirit. She won multiple awards for her poetry and found joy in sketching -- especially tattoo designs. Known for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering compassion, she was a light to those in need, often volunteering to help the homeless by distributing bagged lunches with friends.
Courtney is deeply missed by her parents, Scott and Kathie Fulgham of Chattanooga, TN; her half-sister, Jillian Brock (Damian and nephew Gunnar) of Jasper, TN; her stepsister, Emily Krause (Kori) of Chattanooga; and her stepbrother, Justin Krause (Melanie and niece Catherine) of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Iola Fulgham and June Scobee Rodgers of Chattanooga; uncles Shawn Fulgham (Jessica) of Chattanooga and Rich Scobee (Alene) of Kathleen, GA; and step-uncle Eric Rodgers (Anne) of Chattanooga.
Courtney is also survived by her Great Aunt Evelyn of Stillwater, OK, and Sandy (Pete) Earls also of Stillwater; and loving cousins Dexter Scobee, Cristi Lynn Scobee, Andrew Sutherland, Margaret Chick, Charlotte Rodgers, Jack Rodgers, Miller Fulgham and Lillian Fulgham.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Hal Fulgham (1984), Dick Scobee (1986), and Don Rodgers (2022).
A private family service was held in Nanticoke, MD, with a Celebration of Life to be announced in Chattanooga.
In honor of Courtney’s love for her boys, her family has established a GoFundMe page to support their education: https://gofund.me/5698f77b
Sleep peacefully, our beautiful girl. You touched so many lives with your love and compassion, and your light will never fade.
