Doris Marie Lowe

Born July 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Colodonato (AKA Nichols) of Delmar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Donald Lowe, a son Michael Lowe, Sr. and a brother Anthony Colodonato.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Liammayty and husband John of Bethel, MaryAnn McAllister of Laurel, and Dawn Bounds of Seaford. Eleven grandchildren, Michael Hartman and wife Beth, Mark Hartman and wife Tammy, Christa Liammayty, Christopher Liammayty, Courtney Kosiosorowski and husband Marc, Anthony McAllister and wife Emily, Kyle McAllister and wife Karly, Victoria Lankford and husband Chris, Jessica Parrish and husband Bradley, Michael Lowe Jr. and Heather Lowe.

Also surviving are 17 great grandchildren, a brother Joseph Nichols and wife Delta, two sisters Elizabeth Coladonato and Pauline Colodonato, a sister-in-law Arlene Colodonato and nieces Amy, Julie and Sherri.

She attended Delmar High School then worked several jobs before joining Acme Markets where she retired after thirty-three years of service.

Doris was a people person and one of the things she enjoyed most was being with family at a covered dish dinner. Once her sister asked what she made for her covered dish and she replied, “nothing I don’t have to cook or wash dishes. The only thing I’m responsible for is bringing the paper plates.” She would jokingly tell people she hadn’t cooked for so long her kitchen stove had cobwebs.

She spent many hours at the Nanticoke Senior Center in Seaford where she could usually find someone to help her with sudoku. Bingo was one of her favorite activities, but mostly she went, in her words, “just to socialize.”

Until her health would no longer permit, she looked forward to Sunday Church Service at Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel or Bethel Worship Center in Seaford.

There will be no formal funeral services. Donations in her memory may be sent to either the Alzheimer’s Association or to Parkinson’s Research.
