

Salisbury- Elizabeth Griffin Laws, of Salisbury, MD passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 in Salisbury. Born November 24, 1918 in Berlin, MD she was the daughter of the late Faye Wootten and William Griffin. Her husband, James preceded her in death in 1981 and also a infant son, J. Kenneth Laws. She is survived by her three sons, John W. Laws and wife Sallie, James A. Laws and wife Ellen, and Ronald L. Laws and wife Cindy; Six Grandchildren, Philip Laws, Holly Dozier, Brandon Laws, Matthew Laws, Joann Romeo, and Michael Laws; Five Great-Grandchildren, Caila Dozier, Jadah Dozier, Havan Dozier, Carter Laws, and Addison Laws. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by one brother, William Griffin. Elizabeth graduated from Ocean City High School in 1935 and from Peninsula General School of Nursing, class of 1938. From 1938 to 1988 she provided care as an RN at Peninsula General Hospital, Deer’s Head Hospital and private duty retiring at the age of 70. In 1938 she married James Laws and provided a wonderful loving home for her family. She and Jimmy enjoyed their beautiful flower and bird filled yard in Pine Knoll Terrace. Elizabeth hosted Christmas Eve dinner for 30 years at her home for her extended family. These are treasured memories for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Salisbury for over 60 years where she was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Women. She is a past member of the Alter Guild and an active member of Koinonians. Elizabeth was also a current member of the Peninsula General Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and the former Tri-County Progress Club. Family will receive friends at the Bounds Funeral Home, 705 East Main Street, Salisbury, MD 21804 from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday, August 21, 2015. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dr. Dan Rich officiating. Burial will be held privately following the service in Wicomico Memorial Park Cemetery, Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bethesda United Methodist Church, 406 North Division Street, Salisbury, MD 21801.
