

Elmo Parker Butler, 76, of Fruitland passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Marion Station, MD he was the son of the late Clifton H. Butler, Sr. and Anna Harrison Butler. A 1958 graduate of Crisfield High School, Elmo served in the United States Army, and was a member of the 3rd Armored Division 36th Infantry and acted as a mock aggressor force during the second phase of Operation Big Lift in Germany. For many years he worked on the water and in later years worked in construction. He was a member of the Tony Tank Tribe 149- Fruitland, Moose Lodge- Westover, and American Legion Post 147. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Catherine “Kitty” Butler; step children, Sharon Payne and husband Barry, Linda Dickerson, Roger Purcell, Jr. and his wife Dee, and Pamela Catlin and her husband Gary; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Butler; two sisters, Josephine Wooster and her husband Phil and Sarah Gerald; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Clifton Butler, Jr., Oliver Butler, and Richard Butler and sisters Virginia Cox, Aline Lord, Kay Linton, and June Evans. A memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2pm at Faith Community Church. Rev. J. Harvey Dixon will officiate.
