Gary was born on December 19, 1955 in Salisbury, MD to the late Gomer Humphreys and Virginia Davis Humphreys. He participated in the Campus Crusades for Christ when he attended college in Florida, and also attended Wor-Wic Community College. He was a Sergeant in the US Air Force, serving as an Aircraft Systems Mechanic.
Gary loved hiking. He hiked the Appalachian Trail several times. Vacations consisted cabins in the Shenandoah’s where he and Bonita would take the grandkids. They taught them to gather wood, water from the creeks and spring, and how to keep the big black bears away. They enjoyed long hikes and times around the camp fire. Gary was all about the family. He loved treating his girls and grandchildren to trips to Disney and to Dollywood. He loved his wife dearly and was a wonderful husband. He was there to help his children; he was a great father and the best dad his girls could ever ask for.
Besides his parents and loving wife Bonita, who passed in 2012, he is preceded in death by his grandson Jeffrey Willey, niece Heather Hill, nephews Christopher Hill, Kenneth Holland, Donald Bradford, and his brother-in-law Dorey Bradford.
He is survived by his loving daughters Crystal White-Segali, Shelley Campagnoli, Florence Bayraktar, and Karen Livingston; his grandchildren Ashley Beach, April Humphreys, Ambur Short, Amanda Workman, Kenneth Marvin IV, Michael McIntyre, Taylor Croswell, Tyler LeCates, Brianna Gillespie, Rahmi Bayraktar, and Brendan Hostetler; great grandchildren Avri and Delainie Phillips, Kenneth Marvin, V, Rayna Hopkins, Masyn and Gavyn McIntyre, and Karter Reed. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Patricia Bradford, Ellen Disharoon, Sandy Jones; foster brother Olin Carey; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews.
A walk-through visitation will take place on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 11:00am until 12 noon at Bounds Funeral Home, 705 E Main St., Salisbury, followed by graveside services at 12:30 pm in Springhill Memory Gardens, Hebron. Chaplain Joel Beiler officiating.
