As his little brother I would like to say a few words honoring and remembering a remarkable man that was a son, brother, husband, uncle, veteran, and a leader in his community. His life touched so many in ways both big and small. Gerald, “Jerry” to all his friends and family, was born to Russell and Pauline Cook who preceded him in death and was a graduate of WiHi’s Class of 1965. After high school he answered the call as an airman in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War serving with courage and dedication. His service was not just a chapter in his life, but a testament to his character—selfless, strong, and committed to something greater than himself. As a veteran, that same spirit carried him through his years as a former Commander of the Hebron American Legion, where he led with pride and worked tirelessly to support his fellow veterans and honor their shared legacy. At the heart of his life was his beloved wife, Patricia, who also preceded him in death. Together, they built a partnership filled with love, resilience, and unwavering support—a bond that stood as an inspiration to all who knew them. He was her rock, and she was his, through every joy and every challenge. To me, he was more than just a brother. He was a constant presence, a source of strength, and a reminder of what family truly means. He had a way of making you feel seen, heard, and valued, whether through a quiet word of wisdom or a shared laugh that could light up the darkest day. As we say goodbye, we don’t just mourn his loss, we celebrate his life. A life of service, love, duty, and of community. Although he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the stories we tell, the memories we cherish, and the love that never fades. Rest in peace, Jerry, my beloved brother, you’ve earned it.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on March 22nd at 3:00pm at Legion Post 237
