Gerald William Vickers, Jr., 67, of Beaufort, SC and formerly of Parsonsburg and Hebron passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at his home. Born August 20, 1958, in Salisbury, MD he was the son of Christine Brasure and the late Gerald William Vickers, Sr.
Gerald attended Wicomico County Schools and graduated from Wicomico County High School in 1976, received his associate’s degree from Allegany College of Maryland, attended Shephard University in West Virginia, and Salisbury University in Maryland. He started his career in Forestry with the Maryland Forest Service. He was appointed the Eastern Regional Fire Manager for Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forestry Service. Gerald made significant contributions to the Maryland Wildlife Program throughout his tenure. In 2002, Gerald became the Regional Fire Management Specialist, United States Fish and Wildlife Services from 2002 until his retirement in 2021. Gerald served on numerous prescribed Fire Councils, assuring continuity between prescribed Fire Prevention and Wildland Activities.
Gerald was very proud to serve as a Type One Safety Officer for the Northern Rockies Incident Management Teams at a national level and instructed numerous all risk response trainings. Gerald volunteered for the Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Department for several years and was President of the Department for one term. He was also a volunteer for the Fireman’s Historical Foundation and a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, Chris he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Christina “Tina” L. Vickers; sons, Kevin (April) and Andrew (Leslie); granddaughter, Luna Rose Vickers; siblings, Teresa Blackwell, Karlo Vickers, Vickie Catlin (Mathew), Vera Taylor (Rob), and Bruce Brasure (Debbie); aunt Susan Malone (Bud) and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is also survived by his faithful companion, his dog, Dixie Bell. In addition to his father, Gerald, Sr. he was preceded in death by stepfather, William Brasure and brother-in-law, Chip.
A Fireman’s Funeral will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 2pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Rev. Terry Fort will officiate. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery.
