Glenn H. Benedict, Jr., 76, of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 6, 1950, Glenn was a life-long resident of the Salisbury area. He was known by many for his dedicated work ethic, his kindness, and his devotion to his community.
Glenn was a proud graduate of the University of Maryland. For decades, Glenn Jr., along with his cousins Steve and George Jr., his uncle George Sr. and Father Glenn Sr. were the driving force behind Benedict the Florist and Benedict’s Gardens, carrying on a beloved multi-generational family legacy that served the Salisbury community during its most meaningful life milestones. His dedication to service was also reflected in his longtime membership with the Rotary Club of Salisbury, where he worked tirelessly alongside fellow Rotarians to improve the community.
Beyond his professional life, Glenn had a deep passion for youth sports and local athletics. For many years, he was a fixture on local fields, dedicating his time to coaching and refereeing both soccer and baseball. Whether blowing the whistle as a referee or guiding players from the dugout, Glenn mentored hundreds of local youths, instilling lessons of teamwork, sportsmanship, and integrity.
Glenn’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. He loved spending time fishing on the Eastern Shore, listening to music, gardening, playing pool, and relaxing on the beach, but he was happiest simply being in the company of those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Benedict Sr. and Rose Benedict and his son-in-law David Strong.
His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife Anne Benedict, his children, Jamie Strong and Rob Benedict, his grandchildren, Lillian and Eleanor Strong and his daughter-in-law Lauren Benedict; and a large circle of extended family members and close friends.
Arrangements are in the care of Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury, MD. Celebration of Life will held at Dove Point on August 8th from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
