

James “Jim” Edward Isdell, Sr., 93, of Pittsville passed away Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home. Born April 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Burley L. and Annie L. Fletcher Isdell. Jim served in the United States Army and worked as the Produce Manager at Acme Markets for 38 years. He was a member of Grace Communion International. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and beekeeping. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling. During his travels he visited Czechoslovakia, Thailand, Poland, Israel, and France where he was a passenger on the Concorde.
He is survived by daughters, Peggy McCoy (Don), Debbie Gentile, and Cindy Townsend (Clarke); eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifton Isdell (Retta) and Carroll Isdell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons, James “Chuck” Edward Isdell, Jr. and Gregg Isdell and five brothers, six sisters, and two infant siblings.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
