James “Jim” Sherman Willing, Sr., 88, of Salisbury passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at TidalHealth. Born February 27, 1938, in Salisbury he was the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Stoker Willing.
He was a mechanic and enjoyed being outdoors tinkering with things, with a beer in his hand and his dog by his side. He worked for Kelly Foods for 35 years. In the evenings he enjoyed eating his ice cream while putting his puzzles together.
He is survived by his son, James “Jimmy” Willing, Jr. and his wife Mary; grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley (Travis), Kaitlyn, and Jamie; brother, Leon Willing; a special niece who would come and stay with him, Daisy; several nieces and nephews; and his pug, Buster. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Laura Jean Willing; brothers, Theodore and Pete Willing, sister, Rosaline King; and his Chihuahua, Penny.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11am at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Greg Morris will officiate. Interment will follow in Shad Point Cemetery.
