Jane was born Candis Leota Jane Church on November 10, 1928, in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Jane has joined her parents in Heaven. James Franklin Church (1889–1973) and Martha Caroline Yates Church (1891-1984). Jane also, joins in Heaven her loving husband and father to their twin daughters, Byard E. Elliott. Byard was called Home to Heaven, March 27, 2007.
Jane, her parents and 6 siblings moved to Maryland when Jane was one year old. The last child was the only one born in Maryland. Jane loved her family and enjoyed those family reunions. She loved to jitterbug. She graduated from Hebron High School. Jane retired from R. D. Grier & Sons after being employed for 58 years. At that time, Jane was 82 years old.
Jane was a very active and dedicated member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church for many years where she enjoyed all those Bible studies through the years. She was raised in a Christian home as a child and that continued through her life. Jane and her husband were members of Allen Memorial Baptist Church throughout their married years. Jane continued her membership after Byard was called to Heaven. They attended church together as long as health would allow. Jane was a loving mother, proud Nana, and adoring great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a loving and supportive mother-in-law.
Wonderful memories will be carried on by their twin daughters, Joanie Timmons, Jan Schiller and her husband, Joe; one granddaughter, Shay Lynn Timmons Crisp and her husband, Karrum A. Crisp; a great-grandson, Vitterio J. “V” Crisp II and his wife, Mary and their son Valen A. Crisp, and a great-granddaughter, Ivelisse Candis “Ivy” Crisp, as well as, many nieces and nephews.
Jane, in addition to her parents and husband, joins in Heaven her two brothers and five sisters, Earl J. Church (1914-2005), Mae O. Fleischman (1916-2012), G. Faye Phippin (1918-1997), Grace C. Owens (1921-2008), J. Lake Church (1923-2008), M. Marie Cannon (1926-2014), and Wilma L. Mason (1931-2015).
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the building fund for Allen Memorial Baptist Church, 1303 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
A private family service was held at Wicomico Memorial Park at the family plot.
