Born and raised in Wayland, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen Oldfield Strick. First meeting when they were just teenagers, she married Daniel Flint in 1950. They re-located to the Salisbury area in 1966. They owned and operated Fashion Floors, in Berlin as a family business where the children helped out, and Joan took care of the accounting and bookkeeping. When they had time, she and Daniel enjoyed taking time to do some traveling. “The best mother and grandmother,” she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, at gatherings and crab feasts. She loved to read, and arrange flowers. She will be lovingly remembered by her family as a gracious and loving woman with an enormous amount of patience.
In 2008, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Daniel Flint. She was also preceded in death by her brother Gary Strick. She is survived by her children Daeanne Kuczma (Stephen), Joseph Flint (Leiko), David Flint (Maria), Janae Merchant (Glenn), and Debra Flint; grandchildren Damian (Anne) Kuczma, Sean (Jesse) Kuczma, Laura Post, Jason Flint, Lindsay (Chris) North, Carl (Meghan) Flint, Eric (Josie) Flint, and Kyle Les Callette.
