Jonathan "Jon" Allen Dunn

September 7, 1988June 7, 2020

Jonathan A. Dunn (Jon), 31, of Salisbury passed away in his home on June 7th, 2020. Born on September 7th, 1988 in Salisbury, he was the son of Michael Dunn and Karen Kim Dunn. Jon was a graduate of Bennett High School and worked as the greenhouse manager at Johnson’s Seed & Feed. Jon brought his heart to work with him every day and enjoyed helping his customers pick the perfect plant or offering advice on growing techniques. He always had a way of lighting up any room he entered with his brilliant smile and exuberant personality. Jon had so much passion and zest for life. He was an avid fisherman and would jump on the chance to reel in a fresh catch. He had many happy memories from the hunting camp, Boy Scouts, and numerous fishing trips aboard his Dad’s boat, the Sarah Elizabeth. In recent years he became a Certified Master Gardener for which he was able to share his love of gardening with his community. Jon loved jamming out at music concerts, wearing his kilt at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, and was the proud Papa to his fur babies Indy and Juniper. Jon loved frying turkeys for his family at Thanksgiving while enjoying a cold Natural Light and a shot of Bulleit Bourbon. In addition to his father and mother he is survived by the love of his life, fiancé Annie Boyer, brother, Michael H. Dunn (Sarah), sister, Sarah Randrup (Anders), brother-in-law, Kevin Wolff; grandparents, Granville and Mary Ann Eskridge, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jon is also survived by Cale Ashcraft and his amazing Johnson’s Seed & Feed work family, and countless beloved friends, including Chris Beath, Chuck Kriegisch, and Spencer Brown. He was preceded in death by his sister, Erica Wolff and nephew, Ryker Randrup. #WHISKEYTANGO. The celebration of life for Jonathan Dunn will be held at the WildFlower Estate Farm and Venue 24764 Ocean Gateway -Mardela Springs MD 21837 on July 11th. Visitation with family will begin at 11am with a short service to follow at 1pm . Jon loved always being able to show off his artistic side and passion by putting his special touch on every plant and flower taken home from Johnson’s Seed & Feed. So in true Jon Dunn fashion : the family ask that you wear bright, vibrant and comfortable clothes, the same way Jon would wear it . This is a celebration of everything Jon was to all of us, every smile , every laugh, every hunting and or fishing trip and every drink he shared with us while making memories we will always cherish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jon to Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland, PO Box 92, Millersville, MD 21108 or the Wicomico County Humane Society, 5130 Citation Boulevard, Salisbury, MD 21804.

My prayers to the family. I enjoyed talking with Jon at Johnson Seed and Feed. However, my fondest memories were in our Master Gardener classes. Jon was very friendly and would patiently answer my million questions. 😄 His smile and friendly face will be missed.
Lean on God for comfort now and always!

John was a good friend of my son Bryan when they were in the Boy Scouts together. John was always happy and a fine young man. He will be missed.

I shared the training of Master Gardner with Jon last fall. He was truly an amazing young man. He was thrilled to be able to share his hands-on experience with us in class. I sat with him at the table as we took our final exam to become a Master Gardner. He talked lovingly about his fiancé at that time. He had much to give. He will be missed.

I’m heartbroken that i don’t have more photos with Jon I was always taking photos of Annie and him together!!!! I will miss his goofy personality and the way he took such good care of my Indy dog when I wasn’t able to anymore.
I remember when we first met and went to ocean city and walked the boardwalk with Annie and we demolished a pile of fries. He knew all the Great hangout spots while also hating on the hangout spot 😂 . He always made the family trips more fun. When we were in the Keys in December, Jon couldn’t wait to get back on that pier to go fishing🎣 He also gave me one of my favorite houseplants. A fern that I will always keep in my kitchen. Stephen and I called him our shore bird.
I was so excited when he became my brother in law I remember him calling my dad to ask for Annie’s hand in marriage. I just happened to be at my parents house picking stuff up and he was so nervous lmao! He is and always will be part of my family. Such an amazing person and gone too damn soon, Jon will be truly missed #WHISKEYTANGO

Wicomico Garden Club

June 11, 2020

The Wicomico Garden Club was fortunate enough to have Jon speak this past year at one of our meetings. The subject was succulents. His talk was very informative, low key and instructive. Many in our group already knew and loved Jon from Johnson Feed and Seed. Many bought succulents from him after his talk. And EVERYONE thoroughly enjoyed him, his presentation and learned a lot!! Like so many, our Garden Club was so saddened by his passing. It is such a lost for his family, fiancé, friends, and the whole community.

So sorry to learn of Jon's passing. My wife Angela and I met Jon for the first time on May 30, 2020 when we went to J S & F to find plants for a shady garden in our backyards. We're not plant people, so we relied completely on Jon to make recommendations and show us plants and shrubs to consider for this new garden. Jon was super throughout our time there; really up beat. He talked about his love for his gardening, fishing and drinking beer. He was the kind of guy you wanted to spend more time with. We were both very surprised and stunned just days later when we learned of Jon's passing on Facebook. Our deepest condolences go out to Jon's family, loved ones, and friends.

I, too, met Jon via shopping at JS&F. He was enjoyable to talk with and so patient in answering my plant and flower questions. My outdoor Iris flower garden and shrubs and the plants inside my home are a reflection of his superior advice. And he was always willing to carry out my dog food and put it in my SUV. I will miss Jon whenever I shop at JS&F and in his honor I will pay extra attention to my flowers and plants.

Jon was such a sweetheart! I don't believe he ever met a stranger. Jon was intelligent, sharp, happy, friendly and so charming. We met at J's Seed-N-Feed and his knowledge of plants and advice was excellent! I'm so sad my new friend has passed. God's sweet blessings and peace to Jon's family, co-workers and friends. He was an awesome treasure!

My heart breaks! Jon was one of the most authentic people I have known. He was a loved patron of the Irish penny and when ever you had a conversation with him, it was if you had known each other for ever. He always had kind words and always talked living of Annie. He always would answer flower questions whether he was working or not. He will be missed! Bulliet bourbon will never look the same!
Prayers to Annie and his family! A wonderful person taken too soon! #whiskey tango forever jon
