Joseph “Joey” Leo Kerrigan, Jr., 69, of Fruitland passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at TidalHealth in Salisbury. Born December 27, 1952 in Baltimore he was the son of the late Lillian Louise Duerr, Henry K. Dash, and Joseph Leo Kerrigan, Sr.
Joe was an honorably discharged United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. He worked in construction for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his scooter. Always having a giving heart, he selflessly gave up being the batboy for the Baltimore Orioles to Jay Mazzone, his friend who had a disability. He played sports for many years and in Baltimore played for Mary Dopkins where he pitched up to 98mph fast pitch softball, was featured in the Baltimore Sun in 1972, and did not retire until he was 55 years old. An avid sports fan he loved watching football and the Baltimore Ravens.
He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Samueline R. Kerrigan; brother, Shawn M. Kerrigan; sister, Robin M. Dash; brother, Steven Kerrigan; aunt, Patricia M. Wax; godsons, Richard L. Bowings, Jr., Mark L. Riley, Jr. (Rebecca A. Riley), Justin M. Bowings; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 1pm at St Francis de Sales, 535 Riverside Dr., Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the church. A second visitation will follow the mass from 2:30pm-3:30pm at Bounds Funeral Home on 705 E. Main St. in Salisbury.
