Born on May 23, 1930, in Bivalve she was the daughter of the late William and Marie Insley. She grew up with a deep love for her family, music, animals, and the Eastern Shore. She married the love of her life, Donald P. Hopkins, Sr. on November 25, 1948, and shared over 60 years of love and memories together. Kathleen was known for her kindness, generosity, and mainly her humor. Whether she was singing in the church choir, gardening, or talking with an old friend she brought warmth to everyone around her. Her greatest joys were her cats and her family.

She has been reunited in peace with her husband, Donald P. Hopkins, Sr.; children, Donald P. Hopkins, Jr., W. Mark Hopkins, and Bronwyn M. Legacy.
