Lydia E. Bratten

Lydia E. Bratten,78, of Snow Hill and formerly of Pittsville, passed Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Born September 28, 1946, in Pleasantville, NJ to the late Melba Price.

Lydia worked as a manager at L&F Sub Shop until the fire, worked as a CNA at Salisbury Nursing Home, and volunteered at Delmar Fire Department for many years as an EMT. She enjoyed the beach and being by the water. A member of Ayers United Methodist Church she taught Sunday School for many years and was a part of their bus ministry and Emmanuel Wesleyan Church she sang in the choir and always had a love for Southern Gospel Music.

She is survived by four children, Diane Basner, Harry Kinsell (Crystal), Lydia Kinsell, and James W. Bratten, IV; grandchildren Dana Basner (Michael), Dominic Kurtz (Delana), Tyler Kinsell, Stephen James Kurtz (Morgan), Tori Kinsell (Del) and Dustin Bratten; great-grandchildren, Stella Kurtz and Genevieve Amburgey; brother-in-law, Joseph Herbert; several nieces and nephews; and her fur baby, Lela. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bubba” W. Bratten, Jr. in 2014; sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Herbert; and her sweet Westie, “Blitz”.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 1pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Brother David Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in Pittsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lydia to the Wicomico Humane Society, 5130 Citation Dr, Salisbury, MD 21804.
