Margaret F. Jones died peacefully at home on Sunday April 26, at age 94, surrounded by loving caregivers and friends

Margaret, known as Peggy, was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 14, 1926. She was the devoted wife of Edward C. Jones, married 62 years, who predeceased her in 2019. She is the mother of sons, William, of Huntington, NY and Kevin, and the grandmother of two, Ryan Jones and Brittany Keating.

Margaret had a long career at the New York Telephone Company and relocated to Salisbury, MD from North Bellmore, NY after she retired and her husband accepted a transfer here with the Grumman Corporation. They have been living in Salisbury since 1988 and made many friends here, through their church and community activities.

Thanks to her devoted care givers – Donna Dement, Patty Lecates, Rene McKinney, Pat Messick and Janet Donaway. Patty & Mark Engberg were special friends who truly enjoyed their company and helped make it possible for Peggy & Ed to live out their days in their home. Thanks to the staff and Pastor Joel of Coastal Hospice for their care and kindness.

An internment with her beloved husband will be held at the Hurlock Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations in her honor can be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Peggy and Ed were good friends with my parents, Lou and Walt Volker in past decades as they enjoyed church activities and social events together. I have fond memories of many enjoyable occasions and interactions with Peggy. Peggy was a fun loving person. Even though she adapted quite well to life on the Eastern Shore, I believe that she always identified as a New Yorker. She especially missed all of the cultural opportunities that the big city offered.

My deepest condolences to all who mourn Peggy.
