Miriam R. Adkins, 93, of Salisbury died Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Complete Care at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Dover. Miriam was born July 21,1931 to the late Preston and Kathleen Rayne in Willards, MD but as a child was raised in Berlin. She and her husband, Denver “Dink” Adkins moved to Salisbury in the early 1950’s. Miriam lived with her daughter and son-in-law since 2010 until entering Silver Lake in 2023.
She is survived by her daughter, Victoria L. Hurley and her husband, Thomas of Bear, DE; as well as three grandsons, and a sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver “Dink” Adkins in 2010.
Miriam was employed as a restaurant manager for many years at the English Grill and later, joined Roger and Janet McJilton in opening the Tony Tank Inn in Salisbury. She very much enjoyed her role in managing and greeting guests at the restaurants she was associated with in Salisbury. And the many customers of those iconic restaurants certainly appeared to enjoy the friendly and warm reception which Miriam always exhibited.
Following cremation, a private family service will be held at a later date.
