Raymond Luther Wampler, 88 of Salisbury passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home. Born in Carroll County, Maryland he was the son of the late Luther and Annie Wampler. After graduating from Sykesville High School in 1946, Mr. Wampler joined the United States Army and served from 1951- 1953. Mr. Wampler worked his entire career at Thomas J. Lipton until his retirement in February of 1991. He was a member of VFW Post 194 and Faith Lutheran Church in Salisbury. Along with his wife, Edna he enjoyed antique hunting. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he enjoyed fishing and family gatherings especially those centering on seafood. He is survived by three children, Deborah Fairbank of Easton, C. Dean Wampler and his wife Beth of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and Dennis Wampler and his wife Lisa of Allen; five grandchildren, Tarin Bailey, Corinne Hickman, Dylan Fairbank, Caroline Wampler, and Thomas Wampler; two great-grandchildren, Edyn Bailey and Weston Hickman; brother, Robert B. Wampler; two sisters, Ruth Howdsen and her husband Jerry and Edna Harrison; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Edna Mae Wampler, brother, Arthur Wampler; and sister, Helen Fowler. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 4pm at Faith Lutheran Church where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gary Stiegler will officiate. Interment will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1pm at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville, MD. Biography
