Rodger “Ike” Eichenmiller, age 79, of Salisbury passed away on April 7 surrounded by his family. Rodger was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Harry and Virginia (Young) Eichenmiller. Rodger graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's of Science in Science Teaching. He began his teaching career in Lockport, NY, later in Montgomery County, MD, and taught for 35 years in Worcester County at Pocomoke Middle School until his retirement in 2005. He also taught the GED Math at ECl for five years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Carol J. Eichenmiller who passed in 2016. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Grant Eichenmiller.
He is survived by his three children, Alex Eichenmiller and his wife Carla, Cherie Quackenbush and her husband Keith, and Karl Eichenmiller; four grandchildren, Chaz and Kayla Eichenmiller and Andrew and Bradley Quackenbush, his sister-in-law, Lou Eichenmiller and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kennedy Krieger Institute or the Alzheimer's Association.
