Ronald A. Yaw was born on July 27, 1934, in Beaumont, TX, to Ray S. Yaw and Bertie Yaw. He had strong family ties to Conyers, GA where he attended high school and was recruited as a running back to play football at the University of Georgia in 1953.
Ron met and later married his wife of 50 years, Myrtle, at Travis Air Force Base in California. Together, Ron and Myrtle found great joy traveling all over the world in search of their next adventure. They eventually settled in Salisbury, MD, where their children attended high school.
In 1954, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force, traveling the world as an Intelligence Sergeant and proudly retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1974. Having earned two Master's degrees, he went on to work for NASA, where he continued his international travels.
He was also an active community member and was one of the original founders of the James M. Bennett Boosters Club in 1976. In his free time, Ron enjoyed many hobbies, including metal detecting, wood carving, and duck carving.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle in 2008 and daughter, Rhonda Yaw Searing in 2007.
He is survived by his son, Valin Yaw, and his wife, Monique, of Arnold, MD; his daughter, Dana Y. Cook, and her husband, Wes, of Westminster, MD; and his seven grandchildren. Following cremation, the family will hold a private memorial service.
